In our opinion, the greatest cocktail ever invented. The home of Gumbo, Mardis-Gras and birthplace of the cocktail, New Orleans is one of the most inspirational cities in the world, and has been since the 1700s. The Sazerac was created by Antoine Amadie Peychaud, a Creole Apothecary who moved to New Orleans from the West Indies and set up shop in the French Quarter in the early 1800s (his original shop is now a gun store). The Sazerac is an exquisite cocktail. As you sip the drink you discover layers upon layers of flavours. The warmth and glow of the rye, effused with flavours of spice and honey, the bite of the bitters balanced with the sweetness of the sugar, with the subtle flavour of the anise underneath the perfume of the lemon oil = cocktail perfection.
